German Pancake

German Pancake

This German Pancake recipe uses ingredients that you may already have around your house! It includes 6 eggs, so it’s full of protein and very filling. All the ingredients go in one cast iron skillet (our favorite 10″ cast iron skillet is under $20!), so it’s not as active as flipping individual pancakes, but just as delicious. It’s perfect for weekday mornings! The ingredients bubble up in the oven and create a different look each time. It’s a recipe that packs a visual punch!

Here’s how you make it!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
  • 5 Tbsp butter

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees, place cast iron skillet in oven
  • Combine 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk, 6 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla in a food processor or blender and mix
  • Add 5 Tbsp of butter to cast iron skillet in oven and allow to melt (I typically add butter to the skillet after the oven finishes pre-heating. Butter can burn if placed in the skillet too early.)
  • Pour pancake mixture into cast iron skillet on top of the melted butter and bake for 22-24 minutes

While German Pancake bakes, gather toppings. Here are some of our favorites!

  • Whipped Cream
  • Syrup
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jam or Jelly
  • Berry Compote (combine 1 cup of frozen berries and splash of lemon juice in a saucepan on stove, heat over medium until mixture starts to reduce)

Serve German Pancake with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

About me

Hi, my name is Tyler Moore. My wife and I live with our three young daughters in a 700- square-foot apartment in New York City. I began my tidying journey when an early-30’s crisis invited me to reflect upon, challenge, and change my patterns of daily living. I quit my job as a school administrator, returned to teaching, and started Tidy Dad to help others tidy, simplify, and find joy in their lives. I firmly believe the tidying process can transform your life. I’d love for you to join me in exploring ways that tidying can make room for what’s important in life.
