Our family of five shares a 750 square foot apartment in NYC. We have a wide hallway that connects the living area to the bedroom, and it serves as a playroom for our three daughters. They’re all about toys for play! We have had to carefully choose playroom organization products that allow the toys to stay organized so that we can still walk through this play space.
We use various storage solutions in this space, such as play shelves, toy storage shelves, a three-tier cart, and open baskets. The different playroom organization products help us create designated areas for different types of toys. They also help make it easier for our girls to put away their toys when they’re finished playing.
Toy Storage Organizer: We have this toy storage organizer along one wall in our playroom. The construction is sturdy, child-safe, and made of engineered MDF wood. It has eight compartments of varying sizes, three open storage spaces, three cubby storage baskets, and two open compartment shelves, as well as a top shelf. It’s ideal for holding a variety of books and toys. It comes in grey or white.
Three-Tier Rolling Cart: This rolling cart has three levels of baskets, and can be used in any room. We used it in our nursery for diapers, wipes, and baby products. Now we use it in our playroom for toys and books. We also have one in a closet for coloring books and arts and crafts supplies. It is made of sturdy metal and is a great space-saving solution for adding extra storage vertically. It comes in 5 colors, including black, white, grey, red, and teal.
Open Storage Baskets: These baskets are made entirely of cotton rope that has been weaved, with two handles for convenient carrying. The three piece set includes one small, one medium, and one large basket. When empty, the three bins nest together for convenient storage. They add an easy storage solution to any room. They could be used as a diaper organizer, toy organizer, closet organizer, laundry room bin, small hamper, etc. We currently use ours in the playroom for doll clothes, doll blankets, and play purses. We also have similar baskets in blue ombré, pink ombré, and yellow ombré.
Three-Tier Basket Tower: This sturdy tower has three wire baskets, and we use it to store play food. Our girls love their corner play kitchen, which has a refrigerator, freezer, oven, stove, microwave, sink, storage shelves, countertop, and even a washing machine. All three girls love to play with it together, but it was becoming overrun with their various play food sets. We added two of these basket towers, one of each side of the play kitchen, and now their play food is contained while also being easily accessible.
Bookshelf with Three Shelves: This bookshelf is very sturdy and has adjustable shelves. We currently use ours in the bedroom our three daughters share. It organizes and displays their books, special toys, picture frames, and other sentimental decor. It would also work well in a playroom, because it is not too tall, and the shelves are all easily accessible. The bookshelf is also available in a taller five shelf option.
Overall, the best toy organization products will depend on the items you need to store in your playroom. It can be helpful to take inventory of your child’s toys and other items and consider what type of storage will work best for them. You’ll also need to consider which items you want to keep accessible, and which items you want to store out of reach. It can also be helpful to set up a toy rotation system!
