Our three daughters are currently ages 7, 5, and 2. We love to use the holidays to focus on giving them items in the categories of “something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to learn or read.” Here’s our holiday gift guide for kids 6-8 years old, with ideas in each category inspired by our 7-year-old, Mabel.

Something You Want

Clixo Magnetic Toy This unique magnetic building toy has various shapes that can click, snap, and stack together in endless ways! The pieces are flexible but also durable. This is a fun open-ended multi-sensory STEM toy that all of our daughters enjoy playing with together.

Winter Sticker Book + Coloring Book – This sticker book has 12 scenes with stickers to put on the page directly next to it, so kids don’t have to flip back and forth. It has a spiral binding so it can lay flat on the table or on your kid’s lap. Our daughters love this sticker book series and we often take them with us in the car on road trips or when traveling by airplane during the holidays.

Natural Mineral Play Makeup Sets – Our older two girls have been asking for their own “real” makeup kits. We discovered this kids makeup line that is made from quality minerals and natural preservatives, and is free from artificial dyes and heavy mineral oils. The sets include items like eyeshadow compacts, blush, lip shimmer, roll-on natural fragrance, and water-based peel-off nail polish. They love being “fancy” when playing dress up! (also available on Amazon)

Little Feminist Puzzle – Our 7-year-old has been asking for more challenging puzzles lately. This 500-piece puzzle features colorful portraits of real women who have made a historical impact on the world. This is a great family puzzle for adults and children to work on together. It can spark conversation about important women who have changed the world, and is both engaging, educational, and aspirational!

Kidamento Kids Camera with Photo Activity Book – This digital camera features a cute silicone animal case, making it both comfortable for kids to hold and durable. The soft neck strap doubles as a charging cord. Our daughters love taking photos and recording videos, and they can be easily printed or transferred between devices wirelessly using the camera app. This bundle set includes a photo activity book, with flip-the-flap sections that reveal memory-making challenges to photograph and document within the book. This is a fun way to encourage preserving family memories together.

Something You Need

Stainless Steel Water Bottle – Our daughter takes this stainless steel water bottle to school every day. It includes 3 different lid styles, so you can choose the one that works best for your drink. She usually uses the straw lid, and it flips down to close securely. It is leak-proof in her backpack, but easy for her to open. The water bottle has a double wall insulation, and she loves that it keeps her water cold all day!

Tubby Todd – Hair Bundle The holidays are the perfect time to stock up on items that the girls use all of the time. They love using this lavender and rosemary hair + body wash. It is bundled with a lemon scented conditioner and detangler that makes their hair smooth and much easier to brush.

Rechargeable Book Light – Our three daughters share a triple bunk bed. We usually put them all to bed at the same time and they enjoy reading in their own beds. This little clip-on book light will let each of them have their own reading space. We can turn off the overhead light so they can fall asleep when they’re ready.

Joovy Noodle V – Child Helmet – Whenever our daughters ride their scooters or bikes, we always make sure they have their helmets on first. All 3 girls have this same style of adjustable helmets, in different solid bright colors. They are lightweight, have air vents and a removable visor, and are made from a high-quality mold with extra back-of-head protection. They are an essential for riding scooters and bikes!

Micro Kickboard – Foldable Maxi Deluxe Scooter – Our older daughters ride their scooters 2 miles to and from school each way. These lightweight foldable scooters have 3 wheels so they are very sturdy and stable, and they use a lean-to-steer design. This style also has motion-activated light-up wheels, which is great during our early morning commutes. This “maxi” version has an adjustable handlebar that grows with children from age 5 up to age 12.

Something to Wear

Cashmere Tunic Sweater – This sweater is super soft and won’t irritate or itch your little one’s skin. It is lightweight and breathable, while still being warm. It also comes in sizes and styles for the entire family!

Vessi waterproof sneakers – These are the BEST shoes for walking outside in all weather. They are 100% waterproof! We have a walking commute to school, and these shoes are much more comfortable to walk in than clunky rain boots. We love that when they get to school on rainy days, their socks and feet are still dry.

Primary dresses and cozy leggings – Our daughters love wearing bright, colorful dresses all year round. This Dressed Up-ish collection features dresses that are cute AND comfortable. Our daughters love to pair them with leggings, and these “cozy leggings” are perfect for winter. They are a bit thicker than regular leggings, and come in lots of fun colors. Use code TIDYDAD20 for 20% off your 1st order + free shipping.

Kyte Baby tiered dress and pajama set – Our girls love twirling in these super soft tiered dresses and sleeping in the pajama sets. The soft bamboo fabric is stretchy, comfortable and cozy, for day and night! The dresses and pajamas also come in sizes for adults, so you can match! They also include a fun new Harry Potter print in many of the styles.

Something to Learn/Read

Kids Cook Real Food cooking classes – Our daughters love helping us cook in the kitchen, and we are working on finding ways to help them expand their skills. This online cooking course is designed to help kids learn skills and gradually gain independence in the kitchen. There are also a few FREE resources available to help you get started with including your kids in the kitchen. Grab FREE access to snack recipes your kids can learn to make themselves, and/or check out this FREE 10-minute video about knife skills for kids.

Yoto Mini Player (+ starter pack of 7 cards) – Our girls all enjoy listening to audio books and music on their Yoto Player, and we love that this device has no cameras, microphones, or ads. We like to use holidays to add more audio cards to their collection. Our 7-year-old daughter especially likes listening to the Ramona cards, and she can follow along to the audio books with this paperback box set.

Bilingual Books with a Reading Wand – Our 7-year-old has expressed interest in learning Spanish, and we love that this brand makes bilingual books, puzzles, and flashcards. The Reading Wand lets her learn language in a fun, interactive and accessible way. We have a couple of the Spanish books, and when she turns on the wand and taps, she hears words, phrases, fun sound effects and musical tunes. Every inch is tappable – not just the text but the illustrations as well! The products are available in Spanish, Chinese, French, Korean, and Hindi, and their one Wand is universal and works with all of them!
