5 Outdoor Updates

1. Paint the door – We only bought 1 quart of dark blue paint, and it was enough to paint our front door AND our back door. We chose a Vasper Season Plus semi-gloss exterior fade-resistant paint + primer that blocks UV rays and give a mold and mildew resistant finish, perfect for outdoor spaces.

2. Create a custom house address sign – My mom ordered these 18″ letters and these 4″ numbers to create a custom “Woodland Cottage” sign for us, and painted it in dark blue and dark green, to go with our interior home colors in the cottage.

3. Dip-dye a flower pot or citronella candle bucket – I recently dip-dyed a picture frame for our bathroom makeover, and it inspired me to also try painting our citronella candle bucket.

4. Add solar lanterns – We love these new solar lanterns that lights.com sent to us to use in our outdoor space. Lights.com has so many great options for interior and exterior lighting!

5. Update your outdoor furniture – We love our outdoor furniture because it can all be folded up and stored in the shed, but the tabletop was damaged by animals. We stripped the weave off the table and painted a pattern on the tabletop using painters tape to create the design.

About me

Hi, my name is Tyler Moore. My wife and I live with our three young daughters in a 700- square-foot apartment in New York City. I began my tidying journey when an early-30’s crisis invited me to reflect upon, challenge, and change my patterns of daily living. I quit my job as a school administrator, returned to teaching, and started Tidy Dad to help others tidy, simplify, and find joy in their lives. I firmly believe the tidying process can transform your life. I’d love for you to join me in exploring ways that tidying can make room for what’s important in life.
