Atticus Caticus: written by Sarah Maizes & illustrated by Kara Kramer

(ages 3-7) This is a rhyming story of a boy and his silly cat, with a playful, catchy beat that is sure to entertain.

The Boy Who Knew Nothing: written by James Thorp & illustrated by Angus MacKinnon

(ages 3-7) This story is about a boy who knows nothing, but has a question. The wise people in his life can’t tell him the answer, so he sets out on an adventure to discover the answer for himself.

How to Apologize

How to Apologize: written by David LaRochelle & illustrated by Mike Wohnoutka

(ages 3-7) This unique guidebook is full of practical tips about when, why, and how to say you’re sorry. It uses humorous animal situations to give examples of when apologizing may be hard, but necessary, and shows how apologizing doesn’t have to be complicated. An important reminder for kids of all ages!

Let’s Play! A Book About Making Friends: written by Amanda McCardie & illustrated by Colleen Larmour

(ages 3-7) This is the sweet story about a girl who starts at a new school, and feels shy and lonely at first. Other children show her small acts of kindness and they become friends. It is a great example of how to meet new people, be thoughtful, celebrate differences, and stand up for one another.

Ages 4-8

Wild is the Wind

Wild is the Wind: written & illustrated by Grahame Baker-Smith

(ages 4-8) This story follows a swift bird as it travels along the path of the wind. It follows a small breeze that stirs the leaves in the trees, a light wind that moves the ocean waves, and a strong wind that creates the storm of a hurricane.

Ages 6-9

Out of the BlueHow Animals Evolved from Prehistoric Seas: written by Elizabeth Shreeve & illustrated by Frann Preston-Gannon

(ages 6-9) This book illustrates how creatures from the prehistoric past emerged from the deep blue ocean and slowly became the animals we know today.
