We gave our little wooden dollhouse a makeover! This dollhouse is stored in the playroom nook at our Woodland Cottage. The shape of the dollhouse mirrors some of the architectural details of our cottage. The girls love playing with their new wallpaper dollhouse!
For this project, we repurposed some wallpaper samples and leftover wallpaper scraps from our recent cottage wallpaper project. When installing the wallpaper in the dollhouse, we used similar techniques to when we installed wallpaper in our bathroom. This project was completed in less than 30 minutes!
When choosing wallpaper for our bathroom, we partnered with York Wallcoverings and selected 6 samples that had a modern cottage feel. We looked for prints that reminded us of the beauty that surrounds our cottage. We selected patterns that incorporated vines, flowers, and varying shades of white, blue, and green colors!
We loved all 6 of the wallpaper samples we selected from York Wallcoverings, but ultimately chose to install the Wildwood Unpasted Wallpaper in Navy by Rifle Paper Co in our bathroom. We decided to repurpose a few of the samples that we didn’t choose as well as some leftover wallpaper scraps from the bathroom project.
The wooden dollhouse has 4 room openings, so we chose a different wallpaper for each room. We applied wallpaper paste to the back wall of the dollhouse, lay the wallpaper on top, and then used a scraper to smooth down the paper. Then I used a straight edged razor to remove the overlap of the paper from the edges.
We let the wallpaper paste dry and then set it up with people and furniture. We absolutely love the wooden doll furniture and wooden doll family that live in the wooden dollhouse! We’re so happy with how the wallpaper dollhouse project turned out! This dollhouse was given a “cheap but fabulous” makeover!
