We’ve gotten a lot of snow this winter at our cottage in Pennsylvania. Our girls LOVE to play in the snow, but it can take a long time to get everyone bundled and out the door. We have found that keeping our winter items organized in the entryway makes it so much easier! Here are our top 4 items to make getting out the door easier in winter!
I built a custom Board and Batten hook wall behind our entry door to store coats. There are 3 high hooks, so Emily and I each store our coat plus our family backpack at the top. There are also 3 low hooks, so each girl has a place to store their coat, and the older girls can access them independently.
My mom gave us a mitten tree (similar to this one), and it has been transformational! We can each store mittens, gloves, hats, or scarves on the hooks. It is a perfect place to store them and easily reach them, but the best part is that after we play in the snow the wet items are able to easily DRY on the hooks.
We keep these 3 shoe trays by the door, and each of us store one pair of tennis shoes and one pair of snow boots there. The shoe trays help to keep the shoes organized, and also keep any dirt or melting snow contained.
We have this extra large floor mat in front of our door so that there is space for all of us to stand while removing wet coats, boots, mittens, hats, and scarves. This also helps to keep any dirt or melting snow contained, instead of spreading out onto the hardwood floor.
Those are the 4 items that we have found make getting out the door easier in winter. And then it’s time to play outside and enjoy the snow as a family! Here are the links again:
