  • 1 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt

  • On a floured work surface, roll dough into a 10-by-18-inch rectangle
  • Place rectangle shape of butter in the middle of 10-by-18 inch rectangle dough
  • Fold edges of dough over one another (into thirds, like folding a letter)
  • Roll dough once and fold ends of dough over one another
  • Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes, then repeat rolling and folding process
  • Refrigerate dough overnight

Rolling Process

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees, grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan
  • On a floured work surface, roll dough into a 10-by-18-inch rectangle
  • Take remaining 1/2 stick of butter and crumble into pieces over the surface of the rolled dough
  • Combine brown sugar and salt
  • Sprinkle mixture over the top of the rolled dough (you can 1/2 the amount of brown sugar if you want a less sweet roll)
  • Roll the dough into a log shape
  • Cut the sweet rolls into 12 roll pieces

Baking Process

  • Lay sweet rolls pieces face up in a 9-by-13-inch baking pan

  • Immediately invert baking pan onto serving platter or baking sheet
  • Serve sweet rolls warm

Fancy Breakfast

fancy breakfast

My girls love fancy breakfasts, and this “Tear and Share Sweet Roll” recipe is the perfect centerpiece. I love to serve the sweet rolls on our fancy China plates with a fruit smoothie and a protein, such as eggs or sausage). If you want more inspiration on how to make mornings a bit fancier check out this blog!

Use the basic pizza dough as a base for these other recipes!
