We have been quarantined in Pennsylvania for the past 10 weeks! Last weekend we went back to our apartment in NYC briefly, so that all 3 girls could go to doctor appointments. We loaded the car with summer clothes, a few more toys, the running stroller, and a Melissa & Doug play kitchen that Emily picked up for free several months ago.
The girls have a large play kitchen in their playroom at home, and it gets a lot of love! We wanted to bring this smaller play kitchen to Pennsylvania to use outside as a mud kitchen. Once we set it up outside, we didn’t love how bright the blue and red colors looked in our yard. I decided to give it a play kitchen makeover! I transformed it into a woodsy kitchen, using the dark Jasper green paint we used to paint the accent wall in the living area.
We used supplies that we already had around the house for our play kitchen makeover. First I painted the top of the kitchen and both side shelves a dark Jasper green. Then I spray painted the oven door and handle gray. I also removed the cabinet door to create open shelving.
The updated kitchen matches the aesthetics of the great outdoors! The girls got a cute metal kitchen set as a birthday gift, and it is perfect for the mud kitchen. They love to fill the pots and pans with dirt and rocks, and spend the afternoon cooking outside!
